Bandaje Arbi Falls is one of the favorite tourist destinations in the Charmadi forest range of the Western Ghats. It is located almost 350 kilometers from Bangalore in the Dakshin Kannada district in Karnataka.
The magnificent fall flows as a tributary of the Netravathi River from a height of about 200 feet. Among the most majestic natural waterfalls near Bangalore, the Bandaje Arbi waterfalls offer you with unmatched scenic beauty.
You can have the best time of your life spending on the lap of the clouds surrounded by dense green forests. An adventurous trek into the thrilling rainforest is the only way to reach the waterfalls. The nature lovers and photography lovers will be flourished with an abundance of opportunities to capture the picturesque place.
It is one of the breath-taking waterfalls near Bangalore located 25 km from Ujire. When you reach the top of the trekking point of the hill, you will witness Ballalarayana Durga that is almost an hour’s walk from the falls.
The ideal time to visit this place is during the monsoons when the water takes a mighty shape. It is a challenging trek trail through the steep dense forest of about 16 km. You get to sleep under the stars in the basecamp beside the waterfalls. Enjoy the campfire, delicious food, and the starry night amidst the beautiful Bandaje Village.

Location: Situated in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka, within the Kudremukh National Park area.
Waterfall Details: Bandaje Falls, also known as Bandaje Arbi (with “Arbi” meaning “waterfall” in Tulu), is a majestic 200-foot (61-meter) high waterfall formed by a tributary of the Netravathi River.
Trekking Routes:
Via Ballalarayana Durga Fort: This popular route begins at Durgadahalli, near the Kalabhairaveshwara Temple, and leads to the Ballalarayana Durga Fort. From the fort, the trail continues through grasslands and forests to reach Bandaje Falls.
Alternative Route: Starting from Valambra, near Somanthadka village, this route traverses dense forests and grasslands, covering approximately 15 km to the falls.
Trek Duration: Approximately 7–8 hours for a round trip, covering a distance of 12–15 km, depending on the chosen route.
Difficulty Level: Moderate; suitable for trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness.
Best Time to Visit: Post-monsoon season, from September to February, when the waterfall is at its fullest and the surrounding greenery is lush.
Permissions: Required from the Belthangady Wildlife Range Office, part of the Kudremukh National Park.
Camping: Overnight camping is not permitted near the falls. However, trekkers can camp at the Kalabhairaveshwara Temple area before starting the trek.
Guides: Hiring a local guide is recommended due to the dense forest trails and to enhance safety.
