The Kurinjal Peak Trek is a captivating journey nestled within the Kudremukh National Park in Karnataka’s Western Ghats. This moderately challenging trek offers a blend of dense forests, rolling meadows, and panoramic vistas, making it a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

Kurinjal peak is one of the lesser-known peaks in the western ghats. It is hidden deep in the Kudremukh National Park of Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. This entire region falls under the Wildlife Conservation Society.

It is situated at an altitude of 5,751 ft above sea level. Trekking to the peak takes you to a different world where you can experience the pure nature and the serenity.

The trail passes through the tropical forest of Kudremukh National Park, many small streams and lush green meadows. The steep climb to reach the peak adds up to the best experience one could ever imagine.

Location: Near Kalasa, in the Chikmagalur district, Karnataka.

Altitude: Approximately 1,159 meters (3,802 feet) above sea level.

Trek Distance: Around 14 km (round trip).

Trek Duration: Typically 2 days / 1 night.

Difficulty Level: Moderate to challenging; suitable for beginners with decent fitness.

Best Time to Visit: October to March (post-monsoon and winter months).

Trail Type: A mix of dense forests, grasslands, steep inclines, and ever-flowing streams.

Day 1

  • 6:00am Reach the Campsite

  • 7:00 am Breakfast

  • 7:30am Pack your lunch in your respective lunch boxes

  • 8:00am Start the Scenic Trek from Forest office, Bagavathi nature camp and trek through the dense forest Witness the River and cross over to the beautiful grasslands and reach the Kurinjal peak through steep sections Witness the dreamy view 

  • 1:00pm Enjoy the healthy packed lunch at the peak

  • 1:30pm Start the descent

  • 5:30pm Reach the base Forest office

  • 6:00pm Reach the campsite

  • 7:00pm Enjoy lip smacking snacks with hot coffee at the homestay

  • 8.30pm Campfire(If weather permits) , team building activities, dinner under the stars and close for the day

Day 2

  • 7:00 AM: Rise and shine – wake up and freshen up

  • 8:00 AM: Enjoy a delicious breakfast

  • 9:00 AM: Check out from the homestay and board our bus

  • 9:30 AM: Explore the charming Samse Tea Estate

  • 1:30 PM: Visit the historic Belur Temple

  • 2:00 PM: Take a break for a self-sponsored lunch en route

  • 6:00 PM: Pause for a self-sponsored coffee break

  • 10:00 PM: Arrive in Bangalore
